Day 120: Plant your flag 🏁

What can you claim as your expertise?

Over the past year, I've been focused on expanding my consulting business.

The book "The Win Without Pitching Manifesto" has significantly altered my perspective on what it means to be an expert in my field.

Among the 12 proclamations in the book, the seventh one, "We will build expertise rapidly," particularly resonated with me.

“When we put our flag in the ground, heads turn…Those who do not claim meaningful territory are rarely attacked. What is there to defend, after all? This is one of the indulgences of the generalist: it is an easier life. It is not as lucrative. It is not as fulfilling. It is, however, easier. Nobody attacks the unthreatening generalist.”

You can opt for the easier path, avoiding challenges. However, this route often leads to a lack of true fulfillment.

Don't settle for being like everyone else. Instead, be the person who boldly stakes their claim.

Journal Prompt

Reflect on your professional journey and areas of expertise. Identify a specific domain where you could "plant your flag" and establish yourself as an authority.

What unique knowledge or skills do you possess that set you apart? How might claiming this territory push you out of your comfort zone?

Happy journaling,

Kelsey
