Day 186: Anger 🔥

Reflect on the last time you were angry. What was it trying to tell you?

As I continue my journey with The Artist’s Way, this week I’ve been exploring the depths of my anger.

We often feel pressured to suppress our anger, and paradoxically, when it arises, we can become even angrier at ourselves for feeling that way.

But anger isn't the enemy.

Sloth, apathy, and despair are the real enemies.

As Julia Cameron wisely states, “Anger is our friend. Not a nice friend. Not a gentle friend. But a very very loyal friend. It will always tell us when we have been betrayed. It will always tell us when we have betrayed ourselves. It will always tell us that it is time to act in our own best interests.”

Anger itself isn't the action; rather, it serves as an invitation to take action.

Journal Prompt

Reflect on the last time you were angry. What was your anger trying to tell you?

What action was it urging you to consider—perhaps to be more attentive or to establish a boundary?

Happy journaling,

Kelsey
