Day 9: Taking a smoke break 🚬

Identify a situation in your life that calls for a contemplative pause.

Good morning,

I had a friend recently struggling with whether or not she should quit her job. She was completely burnt out and wanted to throw in the towel, even if she didn't have another job lined up.

While contemplating her decision, she was discussing her situation with a member of her swim team. They told her instead of making a rash decision, she needed to take a “smoke break.”

That is, instead of acting hastily out of emotion, she needed to step back, collect herself, evaluate the situation objectively, and then make a clear decision from a neutral space.

In other words, she needed a “smoke break.”

Journal Prompt

Identify a situation in your life that calls for a contemplative pause (i.e. “smoke break”) instead of rushed action. Journal about how you'll step back to evaluate it from a neutral mindset.

Enjoy your smoke break,

Kelsey
