Find your community đ€
What communities do you belong to, and which new ones would you like to explore?
This weekâs prompts are inspired by The Power of Ritual by Casper ter Kuile and how the landscape of connection has shifted over time.
Ter Kuile discusses the decline of religion and the rise of the "nones"âthose who select "none of the above" when asked about their religious identity.
A century ago, most Americans could easily identify with a specific religion. Today, many of us hold multiple or no identities at all. This change raises an important question: where do we find community?
âWhile our culture often lifts up the importance of self-care, weâre desperately in need of community careâ, says Ter Kuile.
Without community, we feel isolated.
The good news is that communities still surround us even without the influence of religionâthey just look different. They may take the form of CrossFit gyms, book clubs, sewing circles, or running groups.
Regardless of their appearance, itâs important to remember that community and connection aren't luxuries; they're essential to our well-being.
