Looking back đź‘€
What would be obvious to your future self looking back on today?
Today, we’re back to revisiting concepts from Daniel Kahneman’s, Thinking, Fast and Slow.
Specifically, hindsight bias—the belief that we “knew it all along.”
Once we know an outcome, we rewrite our memories, convincing ourselves we saw it coming. We tend to overestimate our ability to predict the future and forget how uncertain things felt in the moment.
But uncertainty is a part of growth. Instead of rewriting the past, we can look forward, borrowing wisdom from our future self to guide us through moments of doubt.
Journal Prompt
If your future self looked back at your life right now, what might seem obvious to them? Does that change how you feel about your current situation?
Happy journaling,
Kelsey
