Put in requests đ©
What clear and specific requests would you like to make of others?
Over the past week, weâve focused on observing situations, expressing our feelings, and linking them to our deeper needs.
Now, we arrive at the final step in Nonviolent Communication: making a request of others.
The most challenging part of this step? Actually knowing what we want and being clear about it.

To make your request effective, avoid vague, abstract, or ambiguous language.
Instead, use clear, positive action statements to express what youâre asking for, rather than focusing on what you donât want.
Hereâs an example of how it all comes together:
âWhen weâre both on our phones during dinner, I feel disconnected because I value meaningful conversations. Would you be willing to have a phone-free dinner tomorrow?â
