Refresh 💄
What area of your life is asking for a refresh?
Every few years, I experience a quiet compulsion: to audit some corner of my life with ritualistic focus. This time, it was my makeup drawer.
I rarely wear a full face these days, but when I do, I find myself unconsciously reconstructing a version of myself from a decade ago.
Heavy eyeliner. Matte foundation.
The kind of face I wore in my mid-20s.
At 32, that look didn’t feel aspirational anymore.
Still, I delayed. We often do, when something so small threatens to signal something so large.
Eventually, I walked into Ulta and chose a few products from a clean beauty line I’d been eyeing. When I got home, I applied them.
And something clicked.
The result was simple, fresh. No mask, no mimicry. Just me, but current.
It wasn’t just a cosmetic shift. It was a quiet affirmation: I like this version of me.
