Remember to forget đ
When was the last time you were so fully engaged in something that you forgot yourself?
âI don't believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive.â
This quote from Joseph Campbell is a favorite of mine.
And though it may seem contradictory, truly feeling alive often comes from forgetting ourselves entirely.
Itâs about transcendence.
The moments when Iâve felt most aliveârunning with the bulls in Pamplona, watching the sun set over Puerto Escondido with my best friends, or walking into my first plant ceremonyâshare one thing in common.
I stepped outside of my own story.
I allowed the experience to settle deep within me, free from the protective layers of my identity constantly reminding me of who âKelseyâ is.
As Boyd Varty writes in The Lion Trackerâs Guide to Life, âDonât try to be someone, rather find the thing that is so engaging that it makes you forget yourself.â
