What emotion do you need to sit with today?
Few thinkers capture the art of being present quite like Alan Watts. One of my favorite reminders from him: âMuddy water is best cleared by leaving it alone.â
In other words, instead of trying to fix, resist, or rush through our emotions, Watts invites us to just sit with them and let them settle on their own.
Sitting with your emotions isnât about solving anything.
Itâs about being fully present with whateverâs arising. Thatâs how we begin to truly inhabit our lives.
