Waking up ๐
What is the first memory you can recall?
One of my favorite conversations happened years ago when I was living in Austin.
I was chatting with a friend about the first time we ever โwoke upโ to the world and started to remember things.
For me, the memory is sealed in saltwater. I was three or four, swimming with my mom off the coast of Aruba, where we lived briefly.
I had eaten Fruit Loops that morning and felt a little sick, but even in that haze, I remember how alive I felt in the water.
It was like something inside me clicked on. From then on, I started collecting memories and little snapshots of a life just beginning to take shape.
And to this day, the ocean still feels like home to me. Maybe because, in a way, it was the very first place I truly woke up.
Journal Prompt
What is the first memory you can recall? When did you first feel yourself "wake up" to the world around you?
Happy journaling,
Kelsey
